Cooke County, Texas: use the court shown on the record

Cooke County criminal records depend on the court that created the file. The District Clerk keeps the 235th Judicial District Court’s files, including felony cases. Cooke County also has a separate County Clerk with its own criminal and civil court services. Start with the court caption so the request reaches the correct office; Cooke County is not Cook County, Illinois.

The District Clerk’s felony request instructions direct misdemeanor matters to the County Clerk route. For County Clerk criminal and civil records, use the Criminal/Civil Records Search entry rather than unrelated land or vital-record services. For copy, certification, or delivery questions, contact the County Clerk Criminal/Civil Records office at 940-668-5422 or visit the County Clerk office at 101 South Dixon, Room 108, Gainesville, TX 76240. Confirm current criminal-copy pricing and payment instructions with that office instead of applying District Clerk fees.

District felony records have a clerk-led access route

The District Clerk’s Court Records section links Texas Online Records, re:SearchTX and a Records Request Form. The District Clerk Texas Online Records entry is office_id=102, while the County Clerk criminal/civil entry is office_id=101. These services expose login or registration paths where required; they should not be presented as an anonymous, complete criminal-history search.

Online access depends on the court, record and access role. Not every document or historical file is guaranteed to appear online. Use the clerk fallback when the needed record is unavailable, and do not treat an unavailable result as proof that no case exists.

The live District Clerk A-Record Request Form asks for identifying information such as defendant name, date of birth, cause number when known, offense or disposition year, requested document, and requester contact details. Submit requests in person or by mail to the District Clerk at 101 South Dixon, Room 207, Gainesville, TX 76240, or by email to [email protected]. The District Clerk lists 940-668-5450 for assistance.

Known District copy charges are $1 per page for certified or uncertified copies, an additional $5 certification fee, and a conditional $5 research fee when the clerk must locate a cause number or ascertain a document. The linked request process requires advance payment, estimates 5–7 business days, and requests a self-addressed stamped envelope for mailed copies. Confirm the request total and accepted payment method before submission.

  1. Confirm the defendant identifiers and cause number.
  2. Identify the document needed, such as a judgment or later order affecting the outcome.
  3. Use the appropriate request form when the needed copy is not available online.
  4. Ask whether the copy must be certified and confirm current cost and delivery instructions.

Prepare a focused Cooke County record request

Include Why it helps
Court and cause number Separates similarly named cases
Document title and approximate date Targets the requested filing
Copy format and certification need Identifies the correct service
Contact information Allows clarification and response

For District Clerk requests, include the identifiers and document details needed by the live request form, choose the required copy or certification format, and follow the clerk’s payment and delivery instructions. Judicial record requests should follow the clerk or court process for the record type. A general county information request or a criminal fine payment is not a substitute for requesting a case-file copy.

Verify the outcome from the actual court record

Review the returned document, the court, the date, and each charge disposition before describing the outcome. A same-name result, incomplete online image, or unavailable document does not establish identity or final result by itself.
